Columns were often referred to as "standing stones" in megalithic Europe, especially in the British Isles and France. Also referred to as Menhirs (or Men of Fire), they were ritualistic monuments mostly found around temples and cemeteries. These naturally weathered Basalt Columns are mostly grey with some brown and taupe variations. Many have natural lichens and moss growth. They are quarried in the Squamish Basin of southwestern British Columbia, Canada. Unlike other basalt columns from the Northwest, these columns have a great deal more character and rustic charm. The possibilities in the landscape are limited only to your imagination.
