Pennsylvania Sandstone or Bluestone, as it is often referred to, has variations in colour from blue-grey, purples, tans and browns. The rock obtained there is evenly bedded, fine grained and takes a smooth finish. The stone is practically free from mica and has not been observed to scale off. Some naturally ocurring iron oxide is present on some pieces, however may also act as a strong binder of the sandstone grains, and at the same time it imparts a greater range of colour to the stone. By virtue of its thickness, it is best suited in a mortar-set application. Bluestone Lilac Random is also available in a 1½" thickness, which is ideally suited for a sand set base.

Note: ALL FLAGSTONE IS SOLD BY THE POUND. Although we include an approximate cost per square foot on our signage, we must emphasize that this number is only an estimate. Spacing between stones, once laid, can greatly affect the square foot coverage. Varying thicknesses from load to load can also change the coverage as well.
